We are so lucky to have two amazing artists teach our kids. Mr. Adam worked on collages this week with the kids. They learned about Katy Hirschfeld and her work with collages.

Ms. Kathryn worked on pencil drawing where the kids drew a ripped paper optical illusion drawing. They also discussed MC Escher in relation to this type of illustration. #vsarocks #vsakidsarecreative #DyslexicArtists

Today the whole school got to hear a story read by our own student Ben, who wrote this graphic novel! Each student received a copy of it. Who knows, maybe some day he will become a published author like Dav Pilkey? #vsarocks #dyslexicreadingandwriting #storywriting #thenextdavpilkey? ... See MoreSee Less

Ms Michelle’s 7th/8th grade class produced a podcast on Spotify! They researched stories and picked this touching story about Jonathan Coelho, who died early on in the Covid-19 pandemic. This podcast was the final project of the kids’ studies on pandemics throughout the ages. #vsarocks

We just learned that SB23-181 will be heard during Senate Education Committee Hearings on Monday starting at 1:30pm!
We would like to ask you to join us to show why this bill is so desperately needed in Colorado and how the current reading legislation is not working for our kids.
Please come and speak for those who cannot and share your experiences!
We will share more tomorrow on how to give testimony both in person (which is the most impactful) and remotely. Look for upcoming details!
We need you, and more importantly, Colorado's kids need you.#vsarocks #untileverychildreads

4 years ago, VSA went to the State Capitol for the hearing on HB19-1134, the dyslexia bill for Colorado. 11 kids from the school gave testimony of their stories with Dyslexia. There were tears in the audience as they spoke. The Committee members were amazed by their poise and well thought out testimony and questions to the Representatives as to why the State doesn't already have laws necessary to screen, identify and remediate the 1 in 5 kids with Dyslexia, like them, by using multi sensory structured literacy, like Orton Gillingham. our kids made a difference!!! #vsarocks ...
