Tomorrow will be a snow day and VSA will be CLOSED.
Please ask the students to hop on Learning Ally and read a really great book! VSA is currently in 1st place still for the challenge—20 minutes on Learning Ally earns extra points!
Happy snow day! #vsarocks
VSA science rocks! Middle schoolers are diving deep into the human body. Ms Christine’s 7th/8th class combined the robotics training with the sphero robot and their learning about the respiratory system. They coded the robot to track its path and to speak! Watch this cool video of the sphero acting as air going into the lungs! Ms Michelle’s 5th/6th grade Science are working on the nervous system and recently made models of neurons. They used these models to explains how “messages” are sent through our nerve cells. #vsarocks
Ms. Kathryn (KLP Fine Art) came again today to work with our elementary students. She did some fun ZenDoodling with them. They listened to calming Zen type music during the art lesson. It was very calming! The kids were so focused. We are very lucky to have two amazing art teachers (the other one is Mr. Adam!) come share their knowledge with our students. #vsarocks #klpfineart
Ms. Emily's class is studying animals and their defense mechanisms in her ELA module. She invited Mr. Randy from Party Safari to come to speak about his reptiles and insects and how their defense mechanisms are different or similar from each other and from Mammals. Even though only Ms. Emily's class is studying this topic, the entire school got to participate in this amazing in-school field trip. Thanks, Mr. Randy your creatures were amazing! #mypartysafari #vsarocks
We are participating in the @Learning_Ally Great Reading Games to show just how much they read!! Students will be entered in a drawing to earn prizes based on the amount of books they read. Students have their login information in their Friday folders. Let's see if we can beat the other schools with the most pages read! #GRG23
Last semester, Ms. Michelle's classes had been studying about human rights and how these human rights can be threatened. One example they learned about is the lack of sanitary water leading to disease and how many young people in Africa have to walk great distances for water. As you know, they walked to King Soopers to reenact what it would feel like to carry back their own water. They also learned about the lost boys and girls of Sudan. Together, they decided to support Salva Dut's foundation, Water for South Sudan, which helps provide clean water via drilling wells for people in South Sudan, Africa. They researched the organization and gained knowledge about the cause they will be supporting and are excited about helping other people.
Each student has their own fundraising page linked to the school fundraising page. If you want to support a specific student you must click on their name to donate directly under their name, otherwise you may donate to the general VSA team. Their goal is to raise $1000 in total. If they raise this amount, VSA will be entered into a drawing for Salva, a lost boy of Sudan and founder of the organization, to come to our school. We plan to wrap up the campaign by January 6th, 2023.
Thank you for considering supporting their fundraiser which will provide wells for the people of South Sudan.
