Vertical skills academy
Social MediaAnd that’s a wrap! The 2022-23 school year is done! Congratulations to everyone, the kids worked so hard and learned so much. Thank you to our parents and volunteers. And thanks to our teachers and tutors for making learning so much fun 🤩 And to those students and teachers/tutors who are moving on, best of luck. You are always a part of VSA and we hope you’ll come back and visit us. #vsarocks
VSA tutors spent the last two days with the kids continuing our Learning about the English Language. We took an imaginary trip to England in Ms Christine’s van “Sadie” (sitting still in the VSA parking lot) while having tea and English snacks like “biscuits” and ”crisps”. We played games to help the kids continue practice in figuring out which origin a word comes from (Latin, Greek, or Anglo Saxon).
We had an amazing year tutoring your kids. Thank you for sharing them with us in their learning journey. May books always give the kids joy! We are so proud of them. Love, Ms Christine, Ms Jen, Ms Emily, Mr Gretchen, Ms Lynn, Ms Elisa.
Ms Michelle’s 7/8 grade presented their last project today. They reviewed American History that they’ve studied over the last few years. They then researched songs that sent a powerful message during each era. Students practiced their research, summarizing, and presenting skills. #vsarocks
The end of year last week of school celebrations have begun!
VSA had field day today! What a great bunch of kids who worked together and showed great sportsmanship. By far the best game was the pizza box carrying #vsarocks #vsafieldday #teamworkandsportsmanship
VSA Presents: "Tutor Told Tales" Reader's Theater. (watch full video on our Facebook page, if you weren't able to attend in person tonight.)
This is a culmination of all of the kids' hard work in tutoring this year with their tutors, Ms. Christine, Ms. Jen, Ms. Emily, Ms. Elisa, Ms. Gretchen, and Ms. Lynn. The kids had fun learning their lines, picking out their own props and costumes, and making up accents for their performance. #vsarocks #vsaReadersTheater
Check out our students showing off their learning! We had a mini course on the History of English in tutoring today by the wonderful Ms Christine and the kids made their own “English words” snack. We mixed all the “words” together and realized how our language came to be, and that English is a very delicious language! #vsarocks #historyofenglish
